Welcome to the AACPS Magnet Programs' Webpage!

Click here for the 2016-2017 Magnet Application (will open 9/30 and close 11/30 at noon).  Applications for the CAT Centers open Fall, 2016 and will close March 15, 2017. 

Applications can only be considered from residents of Anne Arundel County.

Magnet Programs are one of many initiatives in AACPS to offer additional choice and rigor in education. For more information about Magnet Programs, click here and click here.

Please note: Not all world languages are offered at all Magnet Schools.  Please verify your world language choices with the lead at the Magnet School of your choice.

Magnet Transportation Buses: PM runs are in the reverse order of the AM pick-ups with times starting with the schools dismissal time designation.  See www.aacps.org for more details.

 TIMELINE for Magnet Applications/Lottery

Pleace access flyers for Fall 2016 Information Sessions under Magnet Resources to the left.  The flyers indicate when individual schools host their information sessions.

The Division of Advanced Studies and Programs apologizes for the MS STEM/PVA site-based scheduling conflict on October 18, 2016. To ensure parents have full access to Magnet and ASP Program information the following options have been planned at this time (beyond the 9/22/16 Information Night at Annapolis High School where all Magnets can be explored through session rotations).

  • Scheduling of Personal Tours of PVA Middle School Programs at Bates for interested parties
  • Parent attendance of Bates PVA and/or STEM’s Central Middle School event on 10/18/16 and attendance at the Annapolis Magnet/AVID Information Night at Annapolis ES evening on 10/4/16 at 5:30
  • Parent attendance of STEM’s Information event at Central Middle School from 6:00-7:00 and PVA’s Information event from 7:30-8:30 (staff will extend their time availability) at Bates on 10/18/16.

Applications are accepted rising 5th and 8th grade students interested in attending a Magnet Program in 2017-2018 or from current 10th grade applicants interested in attended IB DP.

School year 2016-2017:  Magnet applications open September 30, 2016 and close at noon on November 30, 2016.   Open only to residents of Anne Arundel County.  Applications are solely online; we cannot honor previous requirements or modes of application.

High School Pathway II Challenge Information Guide, BMAH, IB, and STEM

If you are not currently an AACPS student, are Pathway II, or if you receive an e-mail requesting an interview:

5th graders applying to IB or STEM do not need an interview for SY 16-17.  ALL PVA STUDENTS (5th and 8th grade) HAVE TO AUDITION.

To ensure a complete application,

  • complete a PVA audition and/or
  • sign up for an interview (non-AACPS students OR Pathway II; Pathway II students will receive an email)
  • Non-AACPS students only:  upload grades and proof of residence. Upload all documents by Friday, 1/6/17 to be considered for a likely lottery.
